Bethlehem Youth Group

NEWS...NEWS...NEWS...
February:  Pre-HS Youth Group Winter Retreat at Koinonia (2/10-12) leaves from LES at 4pm on Friday 2/10; and our Young Adults Group (21+) has a Brunch after church service (2/19).

This July several members of our Youth Group will be going to the annual ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans LA (7/18-22) -- stay tuned to find out how you can help them attend.

A growing part of our ministry is to address the special needs of our younger members.  Our Sunday School children have a nurturing experience every Sunday, but as children grow older and more independent they enter a no less important stage in their development -- one that Bethlehem is addressing with age appropriate activities that maintain a growing child's interest in our community and help them grow into healthy adults.

Our Youth group has grown and now has three sections to address the needs and interests of all ages -- a Pre-High School, High School, and in 2010 we added a Young Adults (21+) group, which already numbers more than 20 members.   We provide a healthy outlet through monthly meetings, events and community service activities -- the Bethlehem Youth Organization is one of our fastest growing ministries.

Sunday School

Children over the age of 3 are welcome at our 9:15 a.m. Sunday School held just prior to services (except during summer).  Crafts, activities and lessons are melded into an enjoyable experience that is both educational and reassuring.  The children are shown God's love and join the congregation for a portion of the regular service.  Meet at our Lutheran Elementary School.

After School Center

Our certified and licensed Lutheran Elementary School After School Center provides children with a safe, caring environment between the hours of the end of the school day and when many busy parents are getting home.

We offer children:

  • A sense of emotional security
  • Social and educational interactions between children of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Small group activites that enhance each child's individual talents, interests and skills
  • Homework assistance
  • Community service projects
  • Performances and art

Special Services: Although we follow the public school calendar, we believe it is important to support parents when school is not in session.  As a result we offer a vacation day program from 8:00am to 6:30pm for a per day fee.  (Not available on Columbus Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day, Good Friday, and Memorial Day.

Pick Up:  We currently pick up children from Visitation Academy, and Public Schools 102, 104, 127 and 170.

To register, learn more about the hours and costs associated with our After School Center, or to tour our Center, please contact Victoria Hofmo at 718-748-3624.

Pre-School

Our Pre-School is a hands-on learning experience designed to enhance a child's creativity, explore the imagination and prepare them for school.
